This week in topic we continued looking at Amy Johnson. We began reading an example diary and recapped the structural and language features. Whilst reading the diary entry we gathered past tense verbs and emotive language. Using the vocabulary we gathered, we planned our own diary that Amy Johnson would have written. First we planned what language we wanted to use. Next we also created a map using pictures to plan our sentences. Finally to finish the week we wrote our own diary in the style Amy Johnson may have written.
In Maths this week, we finished looking at fractions. We learnt that 1/2 is equivalent to 2/4, which means they are the same. Next we moved onto looking at movements and turns. We first discussed what a quarter and half turn were using our knowledge we had just learnt of fractions. Then we discussed we need to know which direction the turn is going. We linked this to a clock and learn what clockwise and anticlockwise mean. Using this new vocabulary, we explained what movements an object was making. To end the week, we looked at 2D shapes and used them to continue and create patterns or different orientations.
